Future Plans

Here is an update for the upcoming building project in Monterrey, Mexico. We’re trying to have the construction finished before the fall of 2006. This will be a huge effort that will take both prayer and organization. It is imperative that we understand the commitment and sacrifice that this endeavor requires.

We would like to communicate the needs that our Mexican brethren have and the scope of the project. Please be aware that you are not dealing with an American style of construction. Some of the differences are the lack availability of materials and the unreliable zoning officials who have input over the project; not to mention the language barrier.

The expectations placed on the churches committed to the project are as follows:

  • Cover the entire project in prayer.
  • Flexibility with the cultural differences.
  • Serious financial obligation to ensure completion.

Here are the details we currently have.

  • The finished school will include two rectangular three-story buildings of 9 rooms each.
  • Each classroom will be roughly 25’x 25’ and hold 15 students for a total capacity of 270.
  • here will be a courtyard between the two buildings that will act as a lunch and recess area. This should be covered to alleviate the severe heat.
  • Two restroom facilities with a minimum of two toilets each.

The property dimensions are 90x90 feet. The ground is a mixture of dirt and hard rock. The city has sewer and water on each end of the property.

  • Phase One consists of building 2 stories to completion, to be accomplished during spring of 2006. The time of construction is scheduled for the month of April and is expected to take 4-6 weeks.
  • Phase One also includes a restroom building and courtyard areas.
  • The total project cost is being calculated by a construction engineer. The itemized cost breakdown should arrive within the next month.
  • he total project amount to be raised is $50,000. The goal is to spread that out so that five churches raise $10,000 each. This does not include the cost for sending a construction team.
  • Each team needs to appoint a Construction Team Leader. This individual will take a trip to the site in January.
